As most of you (hopefully) are aware, we have the ability to recycled a variety of waste products at all of our Phoenix offices. I just wanted to give a few reminders/tips on how to recycle, and what to or what not to recycle:

1. Items that can be recycled include office paper, cardboard, plastics with the triangle symbol with numbers 1 through 6 in the triangle, aluminum cans, plastic soda and water bottles, milk and juice cartons, steel cans (rinsed), newspaper, magazines and catalogs, phone books, glass jars, clean (not greasy) paper plates, plastic cups with the recycle symbol, envelopes with plastic windows, shredded paper (bagged), tissue/cereal/food boxes with liners removed.

2. Items than can't be recycled included dirty, soiled. or greasy paper plates and food packaging, plastic ziploc bags, packing peanuts, post-it notes (the adhesive is not good for the process), no clothing items or cloth, no packaging from hazardous materials (such as motor oil bottles or pesticide containers), no rubber bands, used paper towels or facial tissue, shredded paper (loose), plastic shopping bags (take them to grocery stores), no light bulbs, no mirrors, no broken dishware.

3. Please be conscious of what you put in your recycle bin by your desk. Many end up mixing trash in with recyclables which makes it that much more difficult for those tasked with sorting. (I have even fished food scraps out of recycle bins...).

4. Please flatten boxes - by doing so can easily double the available space in one of the large bins.

5. If you have a large amount of recyclables, we also have a large dumpster at our Clarendon warehouse. You can flatten the boxes and let me know and I will haul them there on my way home if you are not able to.

Thanks for participating in recycling - it does make a difference!

Michael
